Choosing the Right Version

IELTS Academic is required for admission to most universities and professional registration. IELTS General Training is used for immigration to countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and for secondary education or work experience purposes. Listening and Speaking are the same in both; Reading and Writing differ.
